Alitalia rescue, Italian government is urging infrastructure group Atlantia

Time is running out for the Alitalia rescue. The rescue plan foresees that Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), the Italian railway network, is set to take a 35% stake in the future company, US airline Delta a 15% stake and the Italian Treasury a 15%. But at present, other resources are needed. Then the Italian government is urging infrastructure group Atlantia to take a stake in the insolvent airline Alitalia. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte is to hold a meeting in the next days to convince Atlantia to take a 35% stake in Alitalia. Without the involvement of Atlantia or other parties, the government will not be able to rescue Alitalia. But the Benetton family, Atlantia shareholders, has already spurned initial approaches. M5S, coalition party, is hostile towards the Benetton family, after the collapse of the Morandi bridge in Genoa. M5S threatened to remove the Atlantia concession on motorways.
